Managed Hosting Backups

Managed instances are backed up automatically every day. Your data is snapshotted as a single consistent state, so the database, the write-ahead log, and the YAML catalog are always captured together.

Each night, Legend takes a block-level volume snapshot of your instance’s persistent storage. Because the snapshot is block-level, it captures the SQLite database, the write-ahead log (WAL), and the YAML catalog together as one consistent state. A restored snapshot is always a coherent instance, never a mixture of different points in time.

Snapshots are kept on a rolling 7-day retention. Legend always keeps the most recent 7 daily snapshots, and older snapshots are automatically removed.

Because snapshots are taken at the volume level, everything stored on your instance’s persistent volume is included:

  • The managed SQLite database (including the WAL)
  • Your entity catalog (YAML files)
  • Documentation files
  • Branding assets

Restores are handled by Legend support. If you need to restore your instance from a snapshot, contact support with the approximate time you want to restore to.
